What Constitutes Asian American?

The dictionary defines being Asian American as simply: "A U.S. citizen or resident of Asian descent". We believe that it is a more complex definition than that. We believe being Asian America is a major cultural phenomenon defined by the history, struggles, social lifestyles, and achievements of people of Asian descent within the United States of America. And that is what our intention of showcasing on this site is to be.

There is no implication that Asians in America are separate entities of their non-U.S. counterparts. The Asian in America's history extends far back before the birth of the U.S. But because Asians in America tend to identify with their U.S. counterparts, there is a distinctive culture here in America based from Asian ancestry. That is what Asian America encompasses for the relation of this website in presenting the culture as a whole. Asian American.

Of course, the definition of Asian America may even broaden as history continues to pass. Therefore, the above is just a partial definition. As Asian America grows, so will the content of this site. We are just a vehicle to give the best possible exposure of Asian America.
