About
The Asian businesses
you didn't know existed
but always wished did.
AsianMall is an editorially curated directory of Asian-owned and Asian-focused businesses across the United States. The kind of places you'd only find if you grew up there, or knew someone who did.
The idea started simple: we kept recommending the same handful of places to friends. An under-the-radar Vietnamese sandwich shop, a Japanese konbini in a strip mall, a Filipino bakery that only regulars know about.
None of them ranked well on general review sites. Algorithms reward volume. These places had loyal regulars, not thousands of reviews.
So we built AsianMall: a directory that values curation over scale, editorial voice over SEO, and insider knowledge over paid placement. It started in LA, the Bay Area, and New York, and now covers 25 US metros.
How we work
A few things we believe in.
Editorial, not algorithmic
Our directory is curated by people, not ranked by an ad auction. We write honest descriptions based on what makes each place worth visiting.
Community-powered
Customers share photos, leave structured reviews, and surface insider tips. Business owners claim and manage their own pages, free, always.
Specific on purpose
We focus on Asian-owned and Asian-focused businesses because "Asian" is not a monolith. Korean groceries, Filipino bakeries, Persian spice shops: the specificity is the point.
Ads never touch reviews
Advertisers can pay for placement, always clearly labeled "Sponsored." They can never pay for reviews, never for a spot in the organic section, and never to hide criticism. Reviews are firewalled from ad spend, full stop.
How we curate
What earns a spot.
Listings are curated with care and tied to a real, geocoded address. We're looking for places worth going out of your way for, not filling a map with everything that exists. A place earns a spot when it's:
Asian-owned or Asian-focused
The heart of the directory. Genuinely rooted in an Asian community, cuisine, or tradition.
A real, verifiable place
We confirm the address exists before it goes live. No phantom listings, no ghost kitchens we can’t stand behind.
Worth a recommendation
The kind of spot you’d actually text a friend about: quality, character, or a reason to seek it out.
What we'll never do
- Fabricate a rating, review, or photo. Every rating you see comes from a real first-party review; new places honestly say “be the first to review” until they have one.
- Sell a spot in the organic listings. Advertisers can pay for clearly-labeled “Sponsored” placement, never for ranking.
- Let ad spend touch reviews. Reviews are firewalled from advertising, full stop. No paying to hide criticism.
Think we got one wrong, or know a place we're missing? Submit a spot or tell us. A person reads every note.
